This week, we’re sharing our recently published Knowledge Packs (KPs) — short, pragmatic guides on key topics within EdTech.

The KPs were developed as part of the EdTech Toolkit for Remote Learning, which aims to support policymakers and researchers in the planning and medium- to long-term design of multi-faceted remote and hybrid learning strategies in low-resource environments. The KPs have been a multi-year project led by the EdTech team, co-developed by theme experts and peer-reviewed by the World Bank colleagues, experts from partnering organizations, such as the EdTech Hub, and private sector providers with expertise in each topic. The KPs are grouped under six high-level topics to organize our work. Each topic includes its definitions and a few examples of sub-topics with hyperlinks to their corresponding KPs.

Learning Continuity and Acceleration

This topic includes education programs that aim to provide and support learning continuity, acceleration or remedial education inside and/or outside the school.

Teacher and Skills Development

Refers to technology leveraged to support teachers in different areas (e.g. Teachers’ Skills, teacher training) as well as the education communities (students, teachers, administrators, households) to develop critical skills (e.g. literacy, digital, socio-emotional, entrepreneurship) and other capacities to thrive in the 21st century.

Learner-Centered Technology

Enables, supports, enhances and engages students in their learning experiences.

System Level Support

Includes technology at the system level to enable and improve the educational management information systems to support decision making.

Digital Infrastructure

The enabling infrastructural conditions to provide, support and enhance learning continuity and acceleration.

These KPs can also be grouped via EdTech Five Principles: Download the Cloud of KPs.

Introducing EdTech Resource Packs to Support Remote Learning: In addition to above 16 KPs, the World Bank in collaboration with UNICEF has created seven Resource Packs about remote learning in response to the COVID-19. The packs are designed to support government officials and staff in national and international agencies tasked with designing and implementing effective remote learning opportunities for children in development and humanitarian contexts.
