This week, we were part of several virtual conversations about remote learning, blockchain in education, and blended learning. Below we share recordings, blogs, and resources related to these conversations.

Joint WB-UNICEF Webinar: Remote Learning for Resilient Education Systems

On March 2, the World Bank co-hosted a virtual conversation with UNICEF about resource packs that the two organizations have designed together to support government officials and staff in national and international agencies to design and implement effective remote learning programs. These resource packs highlight effective practices and examples across six areas:

  • digital learning
  • radio
  • TV
  • mobile
  • paper-based
  • formative assessment

Jaime Saavedra, Global Director of Education, World Bank participated. The packs were presented along with three examples of different remote learning strategies, from Lebanon, Uganda and Sri Lanka.

Blockchain for Education Workshop: 2021 Retrospective + 2022 Roadmap

On March 2, the World Bank EdTech team co-organized jointly with the Learning Economy Foundation the event “Blockchain for Education Workshop: A 2021 Retrospective + 2022 Roadmap”. The event featured panel discussions on emerging trends for 2022 for the use of blockchain technology to facilitate transparent and open exchange of value across education systems, in addition to reflecting on lessons learned from the 6 webinars from 2021.

EdTech Policy Academy Workshop for Saudi Arabia on Blended Learning: Implementation and Monitoring

The World Bank hosted a workshop with Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Education about blended learning to support decision makers, technical staff, and administrative staff. The objectives of the workshop were:

  • To explore and critically analyze existing blended learning experiences, paying particular attention to implementation challenges and effective ways for monitoring blended learning models
  • To support the co-design of a national blended learning framework that provides a comprehensive and actionable understanding of how to execute blended learning, identifying the key criteria to secure quality and effective learning.

EdTech Policy Academy Workshop for Nigeria: How to Empower Nigerian Girls with Digital Literacy Skills

The EdTech team will also participate next week in a workshop focused on digital skills for girls in Nigeria, in the context of the AGILE Project in the country. The workshop covered key elements to implement a digital skill training such as relevant frameworks, curriculum, and device selection.

Workshop for Honduras: Preparing the Implementation of Evoke for Out-of-School Youth

In preparation for the implementation of the next phase of Evoke in Honduras, the EdTech team is organizing a two-day workshop with facilitators from World Vision in Honduras. After piloting Evoke in Honduras last year, the next phase of the implementation will engage 419 out of school youth to develop 21st century skills while they work to find innovative solutions to tackle the grand challenge of sustainable cities.
